GPT-6 is not a launch; it is a sequence. GPT-6 Astra opened it on September 3 for limited organizations at $10/$50 (surfacing as 'GPT-6 Pro' in ChatGPT Pro), GPT-6 Sol and the budget Luna followed on September 22, and today GPT-6.1 Sol arrived as the balanced tier of the line.

OpenAI's pricing page lists GPT-6.1 Sol at $2/$10 per million tokens. An earlier version of this story quoted a $5/$30 list price that does not appear there. Luna, the budget tier, sits at $0.10/$0.50, and GPT-6.1 Terra later joined the line at $1/$5.

Where this leaves GPT-5.6

The GPT-5.6 family (July 9) became the ChatGPT default remarkably recently, and its Sol promo pricing is expected to run until about November 21. The staged GPT-6 rollout through Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans continues through October.

Savvy buyers will notice the implication: two OpenAI generations with overlapping promotions and overlapping 'Sol' names. Read model ids carefully before signing.

In the Model Guide, GPT carries a Rolling Out badge: the models are fresh, but access is still staging, with a rumored 6.1 Astra-tier refresh tracked in our GPT-6.1 roundup.
