Google's October 29 announcement adds file creation, preview and editing inside Gemini chats. Files can open full-screen for manual edits, or users can highlight a passage and request changes.

The mobile distinction matters

PDFs support both web and mobile. Google Docs, Sheets, slide decks, Markdown, plain text and code are web-only in this rollout. Google says the features are available to all users in supported Gemini languages.

This is an app update, not a new model or wider Carbon release. We checked Google's post on November 2; we have not tested every account or format.
