Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon on October 28. Initial access is for a subset of cyber defenders, with additional trusted partners to follow through Fairwind. Google says developer, business and consumer access is forthcoming, without announcing a public date.
Access before adoption
The Model Guide now includes Carbon with a Rolling Out badge. Argon remains the generally available Gemini 4 option. Carbon's announcement does not confirm the separately rumored Gemini 4 Pro name, specifications or December launch date.
Benchmark context
Artificial Analysis reports Carbon at 59 with high reasoning on Intelligence Index v5, checked November 1. The composite is not a win on every task; AA separately places Carbon behind Opus 5.5 on its Coding Agent Index.
Announced pricing
Google announces introductory input/output pricing of $2/$10 per million tokens, followed by $4/$20, without giving an introductory end date. That is separate from Argon's confirmed December 1 price change. Carbon access is restricted; the announcement does not specify a context limit, so we do not present one as a verified Google specification.
