Mistral announced the Large 4 weights release on October 29, meeting its end-of-month commitment. The release resolves the uncertainty in our earlier weights watch; its date comes from the announcement's publication metadata, not a new November launch.
On November 2, we checked Mistral's public, ungated Hugging Face repository. Its manifest lists 54 safetensors shards and configuration and license files. The configuration returned HTTP 200. We did not download the full model or run inference.
Open weights, with specific terms
The Mistral Ecosystem Open-Weight License is modified MIT, rather than plain MIT. It permits a range of uses but requires businesses operating a Model-as-a-Service offering to obtain a separate commercial license before commercial use. Read the published terms for your intended deployment.
API and model facts
Mistral's docs list 1M context and prices of $0.70 input, $0.07 cached input and $2.10 output per million tokens. They still label the API model Public Preview. Weight availability does not establish API general availability, and we have left that status distinct in the Model Guide.
